DSV supports Red Cross relief efforts in Beirut
​Following the devastating explosion in Beirut, DSV has decided to support the Red Cross / Red Crescent’s relief efforts with a donation.
The number of human losses and wounded is rising, and up to 300,000 people have become temporarily homeless. Red Cross is on the scene providing much needed relief and fighting against the clock to dig people out of the rubble caused by the explosion.
Facts about the Beirut catastrophe
- Lebanese authorities have officially declared a two-week state of emergency in Beirut.
- Lebanese Red Cross is providing immediate medical attention in established first aid units.
- Red Cross teams are distributing food, water, hygiene kits, mattresses, masks, gloves and other relief items for exposed families.
- Lebanese Red Cross is providing temporary sheltering for 1,000 families and expect to increase that number to 10,000 in the coming weeks and months.
