DSV donates transport equipment to Ukraine

Over a year after the Russian invasion, the war in Ukraine has created a need for a range of supplies and equipment to aid the country and its armed forces. To help meet this need and show its support for Ukraine, the global transport and logistics company DSV has donated approximately DKK 3.5 million worth of transport equipment to the country’s 15th and 21st brigades. The donation includes buses, trucks and trailers, as well as additional transport equipment, and the first delivery arrived in Ukraine on 31 May. DSV expects to finish delivery of all assets and equipment by mid-June. The transport assets will be a valuable addition to the country’s armed services and support the mobilisation of troops and the movement of supplies.

Ukraine relies on help for urgent needs

Jens Bjørn Andersen, Group CEO of DSV, is pleased to get behind Ukraine donation efforts and offer the company’s support to the war-struck country:

“I’m deeply moved by the resilience of the people of Ukraine as they go through this difficult time. Since the invasion, I’ve been proud to witness DSV come together across our global network. Our local branches have developed several initiatives to support Ukraine with donations of goods and services, and I’m grateful that we can continue to show our support for the country,” he says.

DSV’s donation follows a dialogue between Jens Bjørn Andersen and Mykhailo Vydoinyk, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Denmark, who provided a list of the specific needs of the brigades. Ambassador Mykhailo Vydoinyk emphasises the impact that private companies can have by making donations to the country:

“In the current situation, the needs of our army are extremely great, and we count on active help from our partners. I’m convinced that DSV’s donation to the 15th and 21st brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will significantly strengthen logistics at the front.”

Ambassador Mykhailo Vydoinyk continues:

“I would like to call on other companies in Denmark to follow the example set by DSV and donate to provide our armed forces with what they need to succeed. The Embassy of Ukraine in Denmark is ready to share a list of urgent needs for our brigades.”

A remarkable drive

After the invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, DSV was among the first Danish companies to exit Russia. In Ukraine, DSV resumed its operations in May 2022 after a temporary pause to its business activities and has since been fully operating in Ukraine, where transport and logistics are crucial to ensuring access to essential goods.

Jens Bjørn Andersen emphasises the importance of the work of DSV’s local employees in Ukraine:

“I’m very impressed with our Ukrainian colleagues who continue to show a remarkable drive and an unwavering commitment to keeping their country’s supply chains flowing. DSV’s donation to Ukraine’s armed forces is one way we can use our capabilities to support our colleagues and their fellow countrymen,” he says.
