Summary

The Domestic Transport Manager oversees all aspects of the shipping process and performance for domestic cargo, ensuring efficient and timely transport while maintaining compliance with regulations. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a deep understanding of airfreight logistics and industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage department performance; Operationally and financially
• Oversee the domestic transport department, including the preparation of shipping documents, compliance, services and bookings with domestic carriers.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and other service providers to ensure efficient cargo delivery.
• Manage relationships with customers, vendors, and third-party service providers to deliver exceptional service and ensure satisfaction.
• Address and resolve customer inquiries and concerns promptly.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including DOT, customs, and trade laws.
• Stay informed about changes in domestic ground transport market.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.
• Identify and execute process improvements to reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Monitor and report on external key performance indicators, such as cargo delivery times, costs, and quality.
• Monitor and report on internal DSV key performance indicators, such as event timeliness, billings days, auto rating, PODs etc.
• Analyze performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Manage DSV High Value Cargo process and adherence to 100% compliance.
• Manage the use of DSV DeliveryApp with Top 10 carriers.
• Execute formal QBRs with top 5 carriers, minimum 4 times a year.

Supervisory Responsibilities  

• Supervise a team of domestic team coordinators, support staff, Team lead(s) and/or Supervisor(s).
• Coach and mentor individuals, to support their professional performance and growth.
• Manage ADP and 24hr x 365 days pr year operational coverage.

Educational background / Work experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
• 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is required.
• Prior experience in air & domestic exports and supervisory roles is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with air and domestic freight regulations, customs requirements, and export controls.
• Knowledge of shipping routes and schedules

Skills & Competencies

• Lead Your Team: Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage and motivate a team.
• Lead Your Business: In-depth knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and air freight principles.

Language skills

• Fluency in English is required.

Computer Literacy

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with logistics and air cargo management systems.

Physical Demands

Work is generally sedentary, with no specific need for physical coordination or effort.  May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities.  Hours can be extensive as well as occasionally staggered for multi-shift access. While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear.  The employee uses computer and telephone equipment.  Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. Minimal travel maybe required for this role domestically and internationally.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. For this position, the expected base pay is: $78,000.00 - $117,500.00/ Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
