Panalpina to host sold-out Leadership Network seminar
Demonstrating its expertise not only in logistics but in the realm of continuous improvement, Panalpina is heading up a sold-out MasterClass for The Leadership Network entitled “Leading the Shingo Way at Panalpina.”
Joining the likes of Nissan, Zara, Airbus and Tesla – all of which are holding Leadership Network training events this autumn and winter – Panalpina is hosting a three-day MasterClass focused on Lean and the Shingo Way. Led by Professor Peter Hines, a recognized leader in lean thinking and supply chain management, the sold-out MasterClass will be held 8-10 September in Tilburg, Netherlands.
“Leading the Shingo Way at Panalpina” will use the Shingo Model to teach participants how to go beyond short-term results to deliver a culture of continuous improvement. Each day of the seminar will focus on a different theme – behavior, culture and implementation – and will utilize case studies and hands-on practice. The second day of the seminar, “Culture,” will include a field trip to Panalpina, where participants will get the chance to speak with workers in the facility and elsewhere in the company to learn more about ideal systems in the Gemba area. Participants will then test their systems on day 3.
“Companies working in our industry aren’t usually seen as models for continuous improvement –that’s more typical within the manufacturing industry,” says Carlo Vermolen, site manager at Panalpina’s facility in Tilburg. “Our being invited to host a seminar at The Leadership Network reflects the innovative way we approach Lean and continuous improvement, with our employees leading and changing the company from the bottom up.”
