Grrrr… It’s going to Storm in Venlo...
The obstacle race VenloStormt is back! A varied, challenging, and original course with more than 30 obstacles along the floodplains of the Maas in Venlo and Blerick. VenloStormt will make your muscles burn and your heart race. A two-day sporting event on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May 2025, suitable for young and old alike, focusing on teamwork, pushing boundaries, and having fun.
For the little ones aged 2 to 5, there’s MiniStorm. From the age of 6, there’s FamilyStorm, with distances of 3 or 5 km. For the real tough ones aged 16 and older, the main course is 8 or 11 km. New this edition: all categories and distances will take place on both Saturday and Sunday, offering more choice for participants.
Jeroen Kouwenberg, one of the founders and now the chairman, says:
VenloStormt is just so much fun. People enjoyed it so much, and that motivated me to organise it again. I’m really excited!
New to the team is Jochem Bruggink, board member responsible for the course and obstacles. “With my company, I’ve been building large obstacles for major races in the Netherlands and abroad for years. It has long been my ambition to organise my own event, and VenloStormt is making that dream come true.”
Another new face on the board is Joan Hendericks, responsible for registrations, promotion, social media, and volunteers. “VenloStormt is such a fantastic event. I’m thrilled to contribute to it. My ambition is to help VenloStormt grow even further.”
DSV, which employs more than 1,400 people in the municipality of Venlo alone, has committed to being the main sponsor of VenloStormt for the next three years, as in previous editions. Patrick van Ulft, Managing Director, explains:
At DSV, collaboration, problem-solving, and embracing challenges are core values. These align perfectly with VenloStormt’s vision. It’s also important for us to secure this great event on Venlo’s agenda again. The enthusiasm among our employees reflects this; in the last edition, more than 200 DSV employees participated. We can’t wait to get started again, so let’s move forward!
Venlo’s councillor, Marij Pollux, shares the excitement: “I still remember the muddy faces of the participants from previous editions. The enthusiasm was contagious. It’s great that adults and children can ‘storm’ in Venlo again.”
About VenloStormt
Since 2014, VenloStormt has been organised, with around 5,000 participants running a course in the floodplains of the Maas in Venlo, conquering some 30 obstacles. Slides, monkey bars, climbing, crawling, and a lot of mud. It’s for all ages, with teamwork, pushing boundaries, and fun as key elements.
