DSV opens its largest European Contract Logistics facility in Moerdijk
On Thursday 28 May, DSV officially opened its new logistics campus at Logistics Park Moerdijk in the Netherlands. With more than 240,000 m² of warehouse and distribution capacity, the site ranks among the largest logistics facilities in Europe. The opening marks an important milestone for DSV, which is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
The new facility at Logistics Park Moerdijk combines large-scale warehousing with modern distribution and logistics services. The complex includes 10 warehouse halls of approximately 20,000 m² each, 190 docks and a 38,600 m² mezzanine floor, and is designed to support international customers with flexible European distribution and fulfilment operations.
The new location in Moerdijk reflects DSV’s continued expansion of its global logistics network. Thanks to its strategic location, modern automation and sustainable construction, the facility enables DSV to support customers with scalable and flexible logistics solutions. In doing so, DSV further strengthens both its operational capacity and its position within the European Contract Logistics market.
This investment reflects our long-term vision for Contract Logistics. In a world where supply chains are becoming increasingly complex and vulnerable to external influences, it is essential to combine scale, flexibility and sustainability. DSV Moerdijk is a strong example of how we implement our global strategy locally while helping customers future proof their supply chains.
says Maciej Walenda, Global CEO of Contract Logistics at DSV.
Responding to changing supply chain flows
With the opening of this facility in Moerdijk, we are taking an important step in our development in the Netherlands. This is not only our largest Contract Logistics facility in Europe, but also a location fully aligned with the needs of modern supply chains. For our customers, this means direct access to scalable capacity at a strategic location in the Netherlands. From Moerdijk, we can organize their European distribution operations in a fast, flexible and efficient way, with solutions that adapt to seasonal peaks and changing market demand. In doing so, we offer not only capacity but also tailored support in optimizing their supply chains.
says Barbara Klep, Managing Director Contract Logistics at DSV in the Netherlands.
The warehouse is equipped with more than 12,000 solar panels, has no gas connection and has been developed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent certification, underlining DSV’s sustainability ambitions.
The location will provide employment for 600 to 800 employees and supports a wide range of value-added services, including e-fulfilment, co-packing and more. In addition, the Moerdijk site is prepared for several innovative automation solutions, including drones that perform overnight inventory checks to support accurate stock management.
50 years of DSV: building for the future
Alongside the opening of its new facility in Moerdijk, DSV is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. What started in 1976 as a local business in Denmark has grown into a global transport and logistics company with a strong focus on integration, digitalization and sustainable growth.
