Developing future leaders

Potential young talents arriving to a big milestone

Last year DSV Belgium launched their pilot Management Trainee Program with three newcomers. Over the course of 16 months, the management trainees are allocated to two operational and one strategic project in different fields within the organization. They receive various trainings, as well as mentoring and coaching from the management. “In our Management Trainee Program, we train highly potential young people to become our future leaders.” – explains Linda Vercaemer, Training and Development Manager, responsible for the Education Centre, a key initiative of the Human Resources Department in Belgium.

Reflecting on their journey so far

Tuesday, 20th November was an exciting day for Arno, Alexander and Davy, the first generation of Management Trainees in Belgium. They presented their second large project to the management team. Besides the critical evaluation of their work of the last months, they also had the chance to reflect on their journey so far, as well as share their learnings and experience. Davy Dujardin highlighted the diversity of experience: “The Management Trainee Program is capable of offering the necessary variety that I need to develop myself as a young professional. As such, I am challenged sufficiently and will have multiple experiences to fall back on during my entire career”.

About the Management Trainee Program

The training program for the management trainees focuses on developing their leadership, personal and commercial skills, but also includes many functional trainings to help them to become better professionals. “During this traineeship, different workshops have helped me to develop a broad range of skills and gave me insight in different areas of the logistic-chain, which will be useful during my later career.” – Arno Lamberts adds.

The Management Trainee Program and other university initiatives are the perfect way to target potential students for the next generation of leaders within the DSV organization. "Just finished my second project and I cannot wait for the next challenge. I already expanded my network, gained tons of experience due to high-level trainings and amazing co-workers. Glad to be part of DSV !" – Alexander De Roover evaluates his experience, one of the three “first generation” Belgian Management Trainees.
