Health and Safety is Everybody’s Business
A health and safe workplace is the key to success
Health & Safety within DSV
A safe and healthy workplace is not only a legal obligation, but it is also part of DSV’s top priorities. We deeply care about our competent, dedicated and loyal employees and their well-being to deliver on the promises we make to our customers. We understand that a safe and healthy environment is largely involved in a company’s success. This aspect, therefore, occupies a central role in our vision.
Bearing this aim in mind, we have put in place dedicated teams and processes ensuring every effort is made to provide a suitable work environment. Also, DSV controls and improves health and safety performance with occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS). We are proud to have an OHSAS 18001 certificate, helping us achieve better occupational health and safety performance and economic objectives.
We believe that prevention constitutes the best way to minimise risks. DSV maintains strict procedures in the areas of risk prevention and more specifically concerning the transport of dangerous goods, mechanical and manual handling, access to DSV sites, etc. DSV intends to pursue its risk prevention policy in order to avoid any type of accidents, minor or serious, from happening to its people and also to avoid its customers to suffer from the consequences of these accidents.
The prevention of logistics risks at DSV
In this spirit, DSV Global Transport and Logistics, in collaboration with IDEA, Hainaut Développement and the support of Logistics in Wallonia, had recently the pleasure to host an event regarding the prevention of logistics risks.
The purpose was to inform and make people aware of the importance of security and prevention at work. Therefore, different experts on that matter took the floor. They drew the audience’s attention to the importance of complying with QHSE standards, focused on various preventive measures applied in the DSV site itself and even introduced an entertaining way to educate people in terms of safety at work.
Emmanuel Nachez, a reliable partner from Hainaut Développement, summarised the event as following:
“The excellent collaboration between DSV, IDEA and Hainaut Développement made it possible to offer participants an event that was both informative and welcoming. This information session allowed the visiting companies to familiarise themselves with the QHSE standards and to discover a perfect application of these during the visit of the DSV facilities.”
The event took place in Seneffe, where DSV operates a SEVESO II category B site and stores dangerous goods of different categories. This site was the perfect location to organise an event like this.
An initiative worth repeating!
