Thursday evening in Dubai is the start of the weekend. But when a customer needs something urgently delivered from the US to Saudi Arabia by Monday, DSV gets to work anyway

Weir, a multinational engineering group, called DSV in Dubai with an urgent request: get 10 crate loads of industrial pumps from Dallas to Saudi Arabia. The catch: they needed someone to get the pumps packed into the crates first. They needed the paperwork sorted out and in Dubai, the weekend was about to start. They needed the pumps dispatched no later than Sunday – which while a working day in the Middle East, is of course the weekend in Dallas.

It seemed like an impossible task in the timescale Weir needed. Other freight forwarders had said that just the crating would take three days.

We were amazed when DSV called to say that the crates were packed and ready – after just a few hours

Glen Emslie, Regional Sales Manager, Weir

A few days’ planning had been crammed into just a few hours. The weekend was well underway in Dubai so DSV’s Dallas office could get on with the paperwork to get the crates onto a plane as soon as possible. And the Dubai team made sure that any unexpected paperwork requests could be dealt with immediately.

24 tonnes of air cargo – packed, dispatched, flown and delivered to their destination. All to the customer’s amazement. But just another day at the office for DSV’s people!
